Robot mason Monumental raises $32 million

Monumental raises $32 million. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from existing investors Plural and Hummingbird Ventures. Monumental was founded in 2021 and is based in Amsterdam.

Monumental develops autonomous robots for the construction sector. The robots perform masonry work, among other tasks. To do so, the company uses AI, sensors, and computer vision. The technology helps to address the shortage of construction workers. Monumental does not sell robots, but provides construction capacity as a service. Contractors pay for completed walls instead of machines. The company has now deployed more than 150 robots.

With the investment, Monumental aims to hire more hardware and software engineers.
The robot fleet in Europe and the United Kingdom is also being expanded.
Furthermore, the capital supports the planned expansion into the United States and new applications within the construction industry.
